Burger King, Monster Top Belmont Social Consumption

burgerking belmontBurger King knows its way around sports. Last month, they earned social mentions by showing up at the Mayweather – Pacquiao fight, and this weekend, they were all over social during the Belmont Stakes. According to representatives over at Amobee Brand Intelligence:

It appears Burger King is two-thirds of the way to a Triple Crown in sporting event product placement. Hot on heels of The Burger King appearing as part of Floyd Mayweather’s entourage at the Pacquiao fight, the mascot reappeared during the live broadcast right behind trainer Bob Baffert, right before the race began. In the 4 hours after that occurring, there were 11,817 tweets around Burger King an increase of 1,445% from the previous 4 hours.

Monster Energy also got a boost from American Pharoah’s win:

38% of digital consumption around Monster Energy between June 4-7 was American Pharaoh related, thanks to the drink brand’s sponsorship deal around the horse. Digital consumption around Monster Energy increased 115% during June 4-7 compared to May 31- June 3.

In total, there were also 694,197,000 tweets overall about American Pharoah on Saturday.
