Could it be that we have seen the last of winter? Boston's massive snow pile has officially melted, Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced Tuesday.
The Tide Street pile accumulated as workers cleared city streets during the recordbreaking winter.
It had long since taken on the character of a pile of trash, and dwindled to nothing as temperatures headed toward the 90s.
I'm pleased to announce the #BOSMeltNow challenge has come to a close, as the pile officially melted today, July 14. (1/3)

Walsh had held a contest for who could guess when the pile would melt. The prize was a meeting with the mayor. There was no word on who made the lucky guess.
Governor Charlie Baker, who took office just weeks before the region was battered by a series of extreme snowstorms, also expressed relief.
