Delta PR says skidding jet merely ‘exited’ the runway

What plane crash were they watching?

According to a statement from Delta, the flight that skidded to the edge of Flushing Bay merely “exited” the runway.

The airline also claimed passengers “deplaned via aircraft slides” — even though photos show escaping passengers sliding off the right wing.

“The chutes as we understand did not deploy,” Port Authority Executive Director Pat Foye said.

“You can see images of those ARF [aircraft rescue firefighting] staff members on the wings helping passengers deplane.”

Delta also initially said 125 passengers had been aboard the ill-fated flight, but somehow figured out there were two others on board and revised that number up to 127.

The airline did not respond to requests for comment on the missteps.
