PR mogul Richard Edelman splitting from wife of 28 years

Wealthy New York p.r. guru Richard Edelman is being divorced by his wife of 28 years, Rosalind Walrath.

Edelman, 60, son of the late Daniel Edelman, who founded their company, Edelman, in 1952, is now president and CEO of what has grown to become the world’s largest public relations firm, worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

A source tells Page Six that Walrath, known to friends as Roz, first filed for divorce last year, but the action was dropped, until proceedings began again.

The source said, “The divorce is going ahead, and their lawyers are currently in negotiations about how to split their considerable assets,” which include a sprawling Hamptons estate.

It is believed the couple signed a prenup before their 1986 wedding at the Harvard Club, but it is not known if Rosalind, a former vice president with investment banking firm Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, is contesting the agreement.

The couple has three daughters and had been living on West End Avenue, reportedly in the same building as New Yorker scribe Jeffrey Toobin and Broadway star Bernadette Peters.

While Richard and Rosalind have remained low-key on the New York social scene, they’ve been active in political fund-raising circles. Richard was a major fund-raiser for Ned Lamont’s doomed US Senate bid in Connecticut.

Harvard-educated Richard serves on the boards of directors of the Ad Council, the Atlantic Council, the 9/11 Memorial Museum and the Arthur W. Page Society. He’s a member of the World Economic Forum and regularly writes about it on his blog.

Edelman has more than 5,500 employees in 65 cities worldwide, and boasts clients including Walmart, Samsung and Dove.

The company famously created a “Trust Barometer,” which rates companies and businesses, prompting one insider to joke, “Perhaps he failed his wife’s trust barometer.”

Despite having an army of p.r. professionals at hand, Richard had no comment on Tuesday. A lawyer for Rosalind didn’t get back to us.
